A cookie is a short text value a browser can retain for a website. Projection Compass uses the minimum needed for a consistent choice: one necessary value remembers the decision, while one optional value can remember the preferred language. Both are first-party cookies.
Cookies used
| Name | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
pk_consent | Necessary | Records whether optional preferences were allowed or rejected so the panel does not return on every page. | 180 days |
pk_language | Preference, optional | Stores “de” or “en” after permission and automatically opens the saved language on a later entry. | 180 days |
What is absent
There are no analytics, advertising or profiling cookies, cross-device identifiers, third-party cookie syncing or affiliate attribution. Individual reading paths are not measured.
Your choice
“Reject optional” stores only the necessary decision. DE and EN links continue to work but are not remembered beyond the visit. “Allow preferences” enables only the language convenience. “Customize” exposes the same option individually.
Change or withdraw
A new selection replaces the old one immediately. Disabling the preference removes pk_language. You can also delete both values in browser privacy settings; the choice panel will then return on the next visit.
Technical limits
Expiry is capped at 180 days, and a browser may delete or block values sooner. Articles, navigation, tables and direct language links continue to work. Local Storage, Session Storage and IndexedDB are not used.
